It’s the stereotypical hacker outfit. Do it wrong, and you look like you’re still living with mom. Do it right, and you look like a million bucks (in unvested stock options). Here are three items — a hoodie, some jeans, and a pair of sneakers — that are on sale for a great price and worth a look this week.
The Hoodie: BDG Speckled Colorblocked Pullover Hooded Sweatshirt, $29.99 + S&H (originally $49.00)
If you’re unfamiliar, BDG is the Urban Outfitters house brand. This preppy, casual hoodie is effortlessly cool.
The Jeans: Levi’s 511 Slim-Fit Stretch Hybrid Trousers, Merlot, $29.99 (originally $68.00)
So bear with me. I know that these aren’t jeans. Plus they’re Merlot. You may not have ever owned a pair of “Merlot” pants before.
There’s this whole “thing” this fall, that you’re “supposed to have burgandy” pants. Everyone is carrying them this season. If you need some inspiration, check out the review we did of the 2015 Style Guide from Style Girlfriend. These pants not only fit the bill, but they’re inexpensive enough that you can pull the trigger and be trendy without having to worry about how you feel later when you realize that you hate being trendy. Or maybe you’ll love it the way your Merlot pants make you feel! I don’t know you that well. That’s something you’ll have to figure out on your own.
These are Levi’s 511 cut, so they’re slim not skinny. Also they are a twill pant with welt pockets, so they’re not quite as casual as the jeans we normally hook you up with. You could easily pull these off at the office if you want to assert dominance over the common khaki-wearing rabble.
The Sneakers: Converse Men’s Chuck Taylor Hi Rubber Casual Sneakers, $49.98 (originally $64.99)
It’s finally fall. That makes it easier to pull of high-top sneaks, but fall also means wet weather and mushy leaves covering the ground. Converse went out of their way to solve that problem for us when they decided to make their classic original Chucks out of rubber. No joke. They are basically street-styled galoshes. While they’re not quite as glossy as Converse’s patent leather Chucks, they still have a little bit of pop to them. Don’t worry, Converse thought about your feet too. They put a canvas liner in there to make sure your feet stay comfy.
