The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs Review

November 22, 2017 | by Scott

The new Sims 4: Cats & Dogs will quickly show you that raising obedient and well-trained animals and running an efficient animal hospital is not all that easy. Doing all that and climbing up the social media ladder is extremely hard. Let’s see how this fun, new expansion works!

Choosing Your Pet

If you’re the type of person who is in love with all things furry and have little to no self-control when it comes to impulses, you will go crazy at the sheer number of possible options you have in Create-A-Pet. You may start out with the intention of creating a simple sim; a small living space, a little doggie friend and making a simple living doing a mundane job. However, you quickly see that the result is the absolute antithesis of your intention.

Be careful with adopting or creating tons of pets. Remember, this game simulates real life if you are not able to look after four dogs in your actual life, do not make the mistake of thinking it will be easier in The Sims. Your nice quiet life of raising a house full of well-adjusted obedient animals will quickly turn into a stressful calamity of chaos.

Trying to juggle too many pets and animals will result in a very miserable and unhappy Sim. You will need to form a bond with your animals, and that is almost impossible when trying to juggle too many at one. You will have to deal with each of the personality traits and characteristics individually. If you have to dart after one that enjoys running away from home regularly, the other will feel severely neglected. Again, caution regarding the number and type of animal you choose. Try to start small and build from there.

Vibrant Surroundings

Everyone has been raving about the environment of the new expansion. The town is lively and thriving. The world boasts a town square and a lighthouse. There is a flowing river that runs through the suburbs, and it also has a pet park. There are new lot traits that complement the entire game. It makes your pet’s breed and train faster.

Better Options

The options in the new Sims are amazing. You can opt to have your sim living alone with a ton of pets. You no longer have to give them a roommate if they don’t want one. You can even choose to be a breeder and have dogs or cats surround your sim all the time.

The consensus among users is that The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs is one of the best expansions so far. And even if you are not that into dogs and cats you might enjoy running the Vet clinic or the new outfits available.
